MCAS Miramar CBQ

My wife and I stayed at the Miramar Marine air station on 7/1/2019.  They have changed over from separate BOQs to CBQs.  There are many two room (E6-O5) and several DV suites (O6 and above); I contacted the Protocol office to reserve a DV suite.  Facility is pretty old and basic, no views of interest, but good parking. A basic continental breakfast is included;  pastries, apples, instant oatmeal, coffee, juice - not bad but pretty basic. Two floors, breakfast room is on 2nd deck above lobby. Old, but clean building.  Pretty quiet on a Monday night.

The DV suites are $55/night (the other suites are $45);  apparently the only difference according to the desk (7/24, manned by both a civilian and jr. enlisted) is that the DV furnishings are "fancier."  While we didn't see the other suites, it's hard to imagine that there is much of a difference. The rooms were clean and nice enough, bedroom, small living room, bathroom (shower with low flow or low pressure), small area in front of bathroom separating BR from LR with a countertop/sink, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, cupboards with a few plates and dinnerware.  Bed was a queen, small closet, two TVs (LR and BR), the LR had a two couches - one converted to a fold out bed, and small dining table with two chairs.

There is a nicer Gateway Inn (old Navy lodge) on base we stayed at back in 2005 (new at the time) that had much larger suites and nicer overall, although I think significantly pricier. If we were to stay on base again, I'd probably go to the Gateway Inn unless it was just me.
